The Beauty of Picnicking at Sumenep Waterfall, Jepara
0 minutes read
Sumenep Waterfall is a three-tiered waterfall tourist attraction located south of Wana Pinus Setro — commonly called Tinesan by the locals — in Bate Alit District, Jepara Regency. Around this waterfall, visitors are treated to the coolness of nature and the soothing sound of water cascading down the cliff, making you want to stay for a long time and reluctant to go home. The place feels truly natural and exotic because it has not yet been touched by many people. Even so, you don’t need to worry about the safety of the route to the location.
Tinesan — I’m no longer unfamiliar with that name. It’s definitely a ridge filled with pine trees. The first time I came here was in 2001, when I was in 2nd year of high school. But this story is very different from back then. The road leading to Setro Village is now crowded with residents’ houses, and the steep uphill road is no longer like it used to be. It’s wider, brighter, and not as dark and scary as it once was (it used to feel almost horror-like).
So, why did I come here?
There’s a reason that caught my interest — not because of the destination itself, but because of an invitation from the Lintas Komunitas Jepara (Jepara Cross-Community). I wanted to make more friends in Jepara. So far, my social life has been quite successful, but boredom in friendships is inevitable. The main point is I wanted new friends. It was quite impressive to meet hundreds of people from various communities.
